14 years to the Day!

 Stage 5; 160km
Vittel to La planche des belles filles

The first summit finish of the tour was on todays menu. The stage today started with rolling roads through some beautiful forests of the Vosges, under warm skies. A tough steep 3rd cat climb at 100km then a grippy run in to the foot of the final climb of La planche des belles filles

From Plancher-les-Mines the climb to the finish tops out at 1,035 m and is 5.9 km long, gaining 503 m and averages 8.5% with a maximum gradient of 14%, but has a short stretch from 22% to 25% near the finish, it hurt and it will be the first real test for the GC favourites since the prologue in Düsseldorf.

Geoff celebrated 14 years to the day since he was diagnosed with Leukaemia & given just 3 months to live, he is an incredible man and has spent these years since in remission doing crazy bike challenges to raise vital funds for proffesor Charlie Craddock the man who saved his life.

This is more than a bike ride that finished on a steep hill, this is about a group of guys riding 3 grand tours to raise substantial funds to double the footprint of the Haematology clinic so Charlie’s great work can help twice as many who are suffering .
