Stage 11

Stage 11, 203km; Eymet – Pau
Pretty flat day and straight forward with just over 1000m of elevation  through the Lot & Garonne region famous for Agen prunes, Marmande tomatoes, strawberries, hazelnuts & kiwi fruit. The region of Landes More foie gras & Armagnac and the ubiquitous sunflower was omnipresent throughout. Hard to imagine but even at 125 miles long you have to try and use these stages as active recovery.

And we are certainly going to need it. Pau is not only the 3rd most visited town in tour history (behind Paris & Bordeaux) it’s also the gateway to the Pyrenees and the climbing starts in earnest again tomorrow with several tough climbs and a summit finish. So if you don’t mind, I’m gonna leave it there.
